Vicennial is written in two styles. The first half is written in a legato style and should be played in a lyrical manner. The opening section may also be played with as much rubato as the director wishes. The second section must be played in a vibrant and marcato manner. Keep the tempo upbeat and moving. Pay close attention to all dynamic markings for a more emotional performance.

Vicennial was commissioned by and dedicated to the Auburn Middle School Band, Warrenton, Virginia in celebration of the school’s Twentieth Anniversary, Lisa Mergen, Director.
